High River, AB (October 4, 2025) – The High River Flyers held a two-goal lead over the Coaldale Copperheads last night but weren’t able to close it off, falling 6-4 at home.
Flyers veteran netminder, Kaiden Fulton, was at no fault during the loss as he made 49 saves on 55 shots. Brylin Noble got the win for the Copperheads after stopping 14 shots.

While the Flock weren’t able to get a large number of shots off, they made the most of their opportunities, scoring four goals on just 18 shots.
Coaldale would open the scoring just over two minutes into the first period, with John Vanden Elzen potting his third of the season. Flyers assistant captain, Lucas Hughes, would tie things up at the nine-minute mark for his first of the 2025-2026 HJHL season. Assistant captain Ethan Burgeson grabbed the primary assist, with Dane Christensen collecting the secondary helper.

Burgeson would give the Flyers their first lead of the hockey game early in the second period, with linemates Hughes and Christensen getting the helpers for their second points of the game. Riley Preachuk would bring the game back to even five minutes later.
The Flyers’ top line would get High River back on top at 13:30 of the second period as Hughes picked up his second goal of the night. Christensen and Burgeson collected the helpers as the Flocks’ top line had a combined nine points on the night. Grayson Griffith extended the Flyers’ lead to 4-2 after collecting his second goal of the season before the middle frame came to a close. Dex Drewitz and Zachary Warriner collected points with assists on Griffith’s marker.

The third period was one the Flyers would like to forget as the Copperheads scored four unanswered goals to take the win in High River. Trey Schofield, Drake Olineck, Cohen Richardson, and Kobe Fujita would be the goal scorers for Coaldale in the final frame.
The Flyers will have little time to dwell on the loss as they play in Cochrane against the Generals at 2:45 p.m. today.
