High River, AB (January 2, 2026) – The High River Flyers aim to start 2026 off on the right foot as they host the Ponoka Stampeders for the first time this season, tonight at Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex, and then head to Medicine Hat tomorrow to face the Cubs.
The Flyers closed out 2025 with a win against the Stampeders back on December 20, with assistant captain Lucas Hughes coming away with three points (2G, 1A), including the game-winner, along with McCallum Bakken earning a three-point night with a goal and two helpers. Kaiden Futlon would earn the win with 35 saves on 36 shots, as the Flyers took it 5-1 in Ponoka.
As for the South Division leaders, the Medicine Hat Cubs, the Flock are still looking for their first win against “The Gas City”, which hasn’t been easy for anyone in the league as they enter the game tomorrow with a 12-game win streak and fresh legs, as they had tonight off.
The Flyers will look to sweep the season series tonight with Ponoka in High River, with the puck dropping at 8:30.
