High River, AB (May 21, 2026) – The High River Flyers have announced that forwards Liam Canasa and Matteo Andrew will be returning to the Flock for the 2026-2027 HJHL season.

Head Coach Tom Bradbury was impressed by what both players brought last season and was happy with his decision to bring them back.

“These guys joined us halfway through the season and made a huge impact,” Bradbury said. “We are pleased to have them both back, and I’m sure they are gonna make a big impact for us this season.”

Canasa appeared in 26 games during the 2025-2026 HJHL season and posted a goal and two assists for the Flock.

“Liam is a guy that works all game long. He might be the smallest guy on the ice, but it doesn’t show he works hard and hits everything he can,” he added.

The 18-year-old forward is excited to get back to playing at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex and continue to grow in a Flyers uniform.

“Excited to be back with the Flock for this upcoming season. Can’t wait to get the season started. Looking forward to it,” Canasa said.

Andrew suited up for 15 games with the Flock last season and picked up an assist against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on January 16, 2026. Not only can Andrew be an option at forward for his head coach, but he is also trusted on the defensive side of the game.

“Matteo is a guy that you can put in any situation if it’s playing D or F. He’s a guy that every team would love to have,” Bradbury explained.

The Calgary product is ready to make an impact this season while continuing to help his coach and team with whatever is asked.

“I’m super excited to be heading back to the Flock. Grateful for the opportunity, and ready to get to work, keep improving, and give everything I’ve got for the team this season,” Andrew said.
