High River, AB (November 15, 2025) – The High River Flyers’ comeback attempt was unsuccessful tonight as they fell 4-1 to the Cubs in Medicine Hat.

Erich Baxter did all he could to keep the Flyers in it as he made 32 saves in the contest, including 20 saves alone in the first period. Kayne Wright collected the win for the Cubs on the other side of the ice with his 16 saves.

Nolen Sutherland opened the scoring in the first period with a power-play goal 6:34 into the first frame. The Cubs would add another three goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead. Sutherland would get his second of the night, with Austin Derzaph and Mason Osinski adding goals themselves.

Gage Hallam picked up his first HJHL goal 10:51 into the third period to give the Flyers hope of a late comeback. Liam Canasa added his first HJHL point with the primary assist, and captain Wout Rehorst got the secondary assist.

Unfortunately, that’s all the offence the Flock could produce and finished on the wrong side of the 4-1 hockey game.

The Flyers will host the Carstar Okotoks Bisons for the second time during the 2025-2026 HJHL season on Friday at Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex for the fourth meeting of the season between the two.
