High River, AB (January 16, 2026) – The High River Flyers kept things close on the shot clock as the Airdrie Thunder only led in that department by three (39-36), but the Flock came up short 8-4 in the final score tonight at Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.

Erich Baxter made the start between the pipes for the Flyers, making 31 saves in the tile. Hudson Davies was on the other side of the ice of Baxter as he tended the net for the Thunder.

The game would go scoreless until the mid mark of the first frame, where the Thunder added three goals in less than two minutes, including two shorthanded goals. Jayden Gallant, Evan Peter, and Abran Stebbins collected the goals for Airdrie. The Flyers would answer back as Flyers assistant captain Lucas Hughes added his 15th of the season with assistant captain Isaac Cayetano adding the primary assist and McCallum Bakken picking up the secondary assist. Peter answered back for the Thunder before Carson Grimeau closed the scoring in the frame with his second of the season. Grayson Griffith and Owen Grant collected the assists.

High River and Airdrie would trade goals again to start the second period as Kaelen Weisbeck added his first of the game for Airdrie with Bakken scoring 10 minutes later with his 10th of the 2025-2026 HJHL season. Hughes and Owen Campigotto added the assists on Bakken’s goal. Flyers captain Wout Rehorst added the Flyers final goal of the evening with less than two minutes left in the frame to bring the Flyers within one goal. Grayden Ewing answered back less than a minute later to give the Thunder their two goal lead back.

The third period would see the Thunder close it out as Ewing added his second of the night and Datyn Kulynych added a goal of his own.
