High River, AB (November 8, 2025) – The High River Flyers come back home happy with a weekend split as they take the win in Okotoks over the Carstar Bisons tonight with a 5-4 OT win.
With the win, the Flock now holds a 2-1-0 record against their long-time Foothills rivals. Former High River Flyer Connor Smith made his first appearance against his former team in the contest, sharing the ice with his brother, Nolan Smith. Four Flyers would get at least three points, including assistant captain Ethan Burgeson, who collected four points on the night.
Kiaden Fulton made his second straight start of the weekend, playing unbelievably as he made 57 saves on 61 shots, giving the Flyers every chance to take the win. Carson Jereome manned the net on the other side of the ice for the Bisons.

The Flyers took a 2-0 lead in the first period with two power-play goals coming from their leadership group. Burgeson connected first at the 8:39 mark of the first frame. Isaac Cayetano picked up the primary assist with captain Wout Rehorst getting the secondary assist. Rehorst added his own power play goal under two minutes later, with Cayetano and Buregson getting the helpers.
Steen Brown got the Bisons on the board before the period came to a close to make it a 2-1 hockey game.
The Flyers would respond with two goals in the second period for a 4-1 lead. Dane Christensen added his second goal of the season just over four minutes into the second period; McCallum Bakken and assistant captain Lucas Gough picked up points with the assists. The Flyers would strike again with less than three minutes to go in the period, with Burgeson adding his second goal of the night. Bakken and Cayetano got credit for the assists. Fulton was no slouch as he made 22 saves in the second period alone.

The Bisons came back with vengeance in the third period, tying the game up with 20 seconds to go in the game. Nathan Flanagan picked up two tallies in the frame, with Nolan Smith getting the game-tying goal.
Overtime was quick as the Flyers wanted to go home with the win. Rehorst called the game just 11 seconds into the extra period to take the 5-4 win. Bakken and Burgeson got the helpers on Rehorst’s game-winning goal.
The Flyers are back at home on Friday when the Red Deer Vipers head to Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.
