High River, AB (January 23, 2026) – The High River Flyers suffer another loss to the Coaldale Copperheads as they fall 7-5 tonight at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.
The Flyers were able to solve the Copperheads five times despite being heavily outshot 62-27 in their final meeting with Coaldale.
Kaiden Fulton stood tall as he made 55 saves in the game to give his team a chance to win. Brylin Noble made the start on the other end of the ice for the Copperheads.
The two teams would trade 40 shots alone in the first period, with Fulton making 23 saves to help hold onto a 3-2 lead after the first period. Coaldale opened the scoring at the midway mark of the first frame with Brinley Degenstein. The Flyers answered back with three goals in less than two minutes. Captain Wout Rehorst added his 15th goal of the season while on the power play with McCallum Bakken and assistant captain Lucas Hughes grabbing the helpers. Hughes would then add his 17th of the season just 10 seconds after Rehorst tied the game at one goal apiece. Assistant captain Isaac Cayetano picked up the primary assist, with Bakken earning the secondary assist.
Cayetano would give the Flyers a two-goal lead just over a minute later as Bakken and Hughes picked up the assists. Coaldale answered back with a goal from Ryan Holm before the period came to a close.
The Copperheads added three more goals in the second period as Lucas Alexander, Eric Price, and Cohen Richardson all found the back of the net. Hughes added his second goal of the night before the period came to a close as Coaldale headed into the final frame up 5-4. Rehorst and Bakken both picked up points on Hughes’ goal.
Hughes would complete the hat trick and tie the game up to open the third period, with Bakken and Rehorst both collecting the assists. The Copperheads, however, finished things off with goals from Richardson and Barrett Van Nistelrooy to hand the Flyers a 7-5 loss.
The Flock will be on the road tomorrow to face the Thunder.
