High River, AB (February 26, 2026) – The High River Flyers are pleased to announce that team captain Wout Rehorst has taken home the 2025-2026 HJHL Most Sportsmanlike Award.
Rehorst, who finished off his junior career with his fourth season with the Flyers, did it in style as he ended the campaign with 26 points (15G, 11A) in as many games, all while picking up zero penalty minutes. Rehorst would prove to be a special teams beast this season and was counted on to be a key contributing factor in each game. He potted five power play markers, along with a shorthanded goal, as he helped lead by example as a captain.
“Wout, our captain, went the whole season without picking up a penalty minute. A true leader and example to our team of what it takes to compete and be a true sportsman. A player that not only represented the Flyers in a good light but also the league. Wout was also part of our powerplay unit that finished 1st overall in the league at 24.1 per cent,” High River Flyers President Tim Bradbury said.

Rehorst first appeared in two games with the Flyers back during the 2021-2022 season, making an immediate impact with the team with three assists. He would then become a staple of Flyers hockey, playing full-time from the 2022-2023 HJHL season to the 2025-2026 campaign. In 120 games, Rehorst produced 85 points with 38 goals and 47 assists.
The Flyers are proud of Rehorst getting selected as the HJHL Most Sportsmanlike Award and showing the community what it means to be a High River Flyer.
